19.11.2015 RAA40 Event: Managing an International Arbitration: Client’s and Counsel’s perspectives. Moscow

Managing an International Arbitration: Client’s and Counsel’s perspectives

When: 19 November, 18.30 (registration starts at 18.00)

Where: Baker & McKenzie (Lesnaya street 9)

The topic

How to run an international arbitration as a project so that everyone: the client, the arbitrators, the law firm and its lawyers, the many advisors, experts, witnesses and client’s employees are satisfied?

The answers to this question may vary from ‘winning the arbitration’ to ‘you must have done something wrong if everyone’s satisfied’ or ‘handling the project in a/the proper way’ and there may be many other answers.

The RAA40 seminar will tackle the practical issues that arise in the course of handling an international arbitration and explore ‘best practices’ of handling such issues as:

  • Interaction between client and counsel (assessment, budgeting, reporting).

  • Interaction within the team (within lead counsel law firm and with local/specialized counsel).

  • Evidence management (document production, witnesses and experts).

  • Working with the opposing counsel and arbitrators.

  • Getting the hearing right.

The format

The purpose of the seminar is to encourage frank and open discussion between the panelists and the audience on the practical issues they face and deal with in managing international arbitrations.

Panelists will discuss case-studies from their experience and the questions proposed by the moderators and most importantly by the audience. If you have any question or case-study you want to discuss please submit it (see below for details).
