From 'Fiery Eyes' to 'Dead Volcanoes'!
Last year, on the eve of the MLF-2015 opening ceremony, Valery Papakul and I said that we would never deal again with arrangement of conferences and forums. Still, as we all know, one should never say never!
In 2015, the Forum was attended by over 150 guests from 5 countries. The Forum was held in such a warm and friendly atmosphere, and it had such a positive feedback from our colleagues, that we decided to take another chance and invite you to Minsk!
Our great hope is that we could manage to 'pull' you away from your painstaking routine for a few days to have a friendly chat about our 'juristic life'!
Therefore, we offer the most comfortable format.
First, the dress code: no ties or business casual. We are not at work, for that matter:)
Second, the theme of our Forum.
In 2015, at a meeting with law faculty students, all colleagues mentioned 'fiery eyes' as a key criterion for selecting new employees. One colleague smartly labelled those who had quitted the profession as 'dead volcanoes'.
Here it is – the bulk of our life in profession expressed in a few words: from 'fiery eyes' to a 'dead volcano'. That is why we called the theme 'From Fiery Eyes to Dead Volcanoes, or the Entire Professional Life of a Lawyer in a Day'.
What will be new at MLF-2016?
We shall discuss the 'Rising Stars' of the law market. In particular, Maxim Kulkov, Managing Partner of Kulkov, Kolotilov & Partners Legal Boutique, will confide to us the joys and sorrows of 'rein-free' life after leaving a large and respected legal firm.
We shall also deliberate on the 'hottest' topics of concern for our colleagues from various countries at the 'High Sun' section. What makes the life of successful lawyers? What errors do they make, and how do they cope with them? What do they dream of? And, finally, what occupational diseases threaten those who strive for success in the law business?
'Parallel Reality' is yet another unconventional session during which we suggest discussing new trends in the law business. Holger Zscheyge, General Director of Infotropic Media will share his vision of the Legal Tech impact on the legal profession worldwide
In the 'Big Secret for a Small Company' session, we hope to hear recommendations from Jurgita Meskauskaite, Deputy Editor at Chambers Europe, on methods of successful work with legal rating agencies, in particular, with Chambers and Partners.
And, what kind of lawyers shall we be without the 'Suits'? Dmitry Zabolotny, owner of Dmitry Zabolotny Studio, will share with us his observations about the influence of suits on communications!
I am certain that many colleagues keep asking themselves the question, whether there is life after the profession. In the Forum's final session 'Pack it Up and Go' we shall hear amusing stories of people who have left jurisprudence and become successful in other spheres. Take, for example, Andrey Yermolinsky, who, having left the Public Prosecutor's Office, entertained kids in a children's café and later became one of the best-known showmen in Minsk
We have had long debates, we even voted on the excursion to be offered to the Forum participants and guests, and it seems we have come to a fascinating proposal!
At the end of the Forum, on October 22, we are going to go see BelAZ, the legendary truck factory in Zhodino that makes heavy goods vehicles capable of carrying up to 220 tons of cargo. And each of us will have a chance to take a ride on that 'strongman'.
Shall we hit the road, then?!
